Little Bit
[12:28]
This one was recorded at the Mangy Moose in Teton Village, WY on 6/29/2008. Coincidentally, "Little Bit" is the endearing nickname I call my 1-month-old daughter, Avery. I doubt it's what the song's author has in mind when he sings about wanting "just a little bit," though.

WWP Bozeman (1-21-2008) set 1
[21:53]
You'll want a reasonably fast connection to download this file, as it is an edited version of an entire set. It took me 2 minutes, and I use a cable modem. WWP doesn't play songs, per se. Instead, we begin a set with an idea, and develop that idea through the whole set. Usually, we don't stop until it's time for a set break. Lineup on this tour was: Andy Calder (bass), Willie Waldman (trumpet), Tom Maxwell (drums) Cameron Morgan (guitar), and Norton Wisdom (artist).

Purple Rain (August 12, 2006)
[9:53]
Yup, it's the Prince ballad! Actually, we stole the idea for this arrangement from a band called Niacin (rocker Billy Sheehan's organ jazz oufit).
This one is from the Fat Albert show on Saturday, August 12 at the Mangy Moose. We "invented" a gig with only 1 week's notice, because our friend Ross Martin was going to be in town for the Targhee Bluegrass Festival. He was excited to do some playing, so we set this up last-minute. Arrangements were a little loose at times, but the feels are, for the most part, the best we have ever acheived. Ross's playing is unreal, and his presence brought us all up a couple notches.
Ross is based in Denver, and he is one of the best guitar players I know of. His normal gigs include things like Mollie O'Brien, Tony Furtado, Drew Emmitt, Kyle Hollingsworth, and a slew of others. We consider ourselves very lucky have him on the gig!

This cut is a New Orleans style jam. It took me a minute to find a comfortable groove, but once I settled on something, the pocket was great. I seemed to be the only one searching at all, and that didn't last long. I'm quite happy with what I found.
Ross's solo starts at about 6:00, and it is, for me, fairly moving. He is a very expressive soloist.

This is one of my favorite tunes of all time. Cannonball Adderley's version of this on the album by the same name is one of the most important moments in music.
Managed to find a nice groove from the get-go on this one, and since it's a standard, no one had to feel around for it at all.

Doin' Something (August 12, 2006)
[9:04]
What a great tune by Soulive! We slip into Herbie Hancock's Chameleon halfway through, which is a highlight for me. I actually get an opportunity to stomp on an envelope filter in that section, and the other guys in the band don't complain much!

Super Mario Brothers (August 12, 2006)
[3:45]
I know what you're thinking, but this is worth checking out! Again, we are not the originators of the idea: we heard a band called Ulu do something like this.
